    The Senior Day Program is located at 1720 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA - across the street from Mills-Peninsula Medical Center.

    Mills-Peninsula offers a Senior Day Treatment program for older adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety or difficulties adjusting to changing life circumstances. A treatment plan is tailored to individual needs.

    For some, the program may be an alternative to inpatient treatment. For others, it serves as a transition from inpatient care to intensive outpatient treatment.

    Most of the program cost is covered by Medicare or Medicare HMO health insurance. We will work with participants to develop an appropriate payment plan.

    Participants come to Mills-Peninsula's Senior Focus Center in Burlingame two to four days per week, depending on needs (the program is closed on Wednesdays). Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Key program components include:

    • Individualized assessment and treatment plans

    • Stress reduction training

    • Psychotherapy groups led by experienced professionals

    • Educational groups on topics including coping with aging, effects of drugs and alcohol, coping with depression and assertiveness training

    • Transportation available to and from the center, if needed

    • Hot meals and nutrition instruction

    • Family education and support

    • Dual diagnosis treatment for people with coexisting mental health and chemical dependency problems

    • Most services eligible for Medicare coverage or Medicare HMO insurance coverage
