Mills-Peninsula offers an integrated treatment approach for adults, seniors and adolescents who have significant mental health problems complicated by substance abuse.
Thorough psychiatric evaluations and substance abuse assessments are provided by a multi-disciplinary staff.
Treatment is tailored to individual need, with careful attention to ensuring that psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment components are balanced.
Treatment may include inpatient, partial hospital and/or outpatient services.
Key program components include:
Individualized assessment and treatment plans
Stress reduction training
Psychotherapy groups led by experienced professionals
Educational groups on topics including coping with aging, effects of drugs and alcohol, coping with depression and assertiveness training
Transportation available to and from the center, if needed
Hot meals and nutrition instruction
Family education and support
Dual diagnosis treatment for people with coexisting mental health and chemical dependency problems
Most services eligible for Medicare coverage or Medicare HMO insurance coverage
Treatment focuses on teaching patients to manage their psychiatric disorder and substance abuse problem through therapy and educational groups.
Program features include:
Medically supervised detoxification, as appropriate
Psychiatric and medical evaluation
Substance abuse assessment
Therapeutic medications (when medically indicated)
Individual and group substance abuse education
12-step support and referral to outpatient services (Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alanon and codependents Anonymous meetings held on site)
Individualized aftercare referrals and discharge planning
